I wanted to pump up the spice a little with a steak dish, and with this recipe I did just that. I primarily am focused on the steak for this recipe, but also roasted spicy rutabaga and seared zucchini went well with this dish. Here is what you will need for the steak:
2 strip steaks
4 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp Louisiana Cajun Seasoning
A couple of hours before cooking, take your steaks and sprinkle each side equally with your kosher salt. Place back in fridge uncovered. This will help pull out any excess moisture.
About 20 minutes before cooking take steaks out of fridge and let set at room temperature. This is a good time to be finishing up your sides.
Take pepper and sprinkle equally on both steaks, and also sprinkle equally the Cajun seasoning.
In a very hot skillet on high(you can use a mixture of vegetable oil and butter), sear each side of the steak for about 3 minutes per side. Let rest for 5 minutes after both sides have been cooked.
